Author Biographies

Lonny J Avi Brooks, California State University, East Bay

Assistant professor in the Communication Department at California State University, East Bay (CSUEB). He is the Co-Principal Investigator for the Long Term and Futures Thinking in Education Project at CSUEB. His research studies how organizations (especially forecasting think tanks), and university students envision the future of media.

Daniel Sutko, California State University, Fullerton

Assistant professor at CSU Fullerton. He studies emerging media and culture, with an emphasis on how new media reorient power relations. His current work analyzes the connection between sea piracy and media piracy as related struggles over governing communication technology.

Aram Sinnreich, American University

Associate professor at American University’s School of Communication, and author of the recent book “The Piracy Crusade: How the Music Industry’s War on Sharing Destroys Markets and Erodes Civil Liberties,” from University of Massachusetts Press. He holds a Ph.D. from the Annenberg School for Communication at the University of Southern California.
